What a little water leak can do?
Do see the water coming out of the hose? A little leak like this one on the right can cause terrible water damage if gone unnoticed or not taken care of quickly. This one caused water damaged to the subfloor in a bathroom and the walls here. If you hear strange “buzzing” sounds in your home could be a water leak like this one, turn the water off and call us to properly dry your home.

My natural stone floor is loosing its polish?
Most natural stone floors with a high gloss polish that were installed in high traffic areas like kitchens, hallway, most used bathrooms, home main entry will develop hundreds if not thousands of tiny hard to see scratches that over time will turn your beautiful floor kind of dull in sections. You can slow dow this process by placing outdoors mats made of HeavyDuty Coir (as a sample) these do well collecting granny-sandy like debris from shoes. A professional floor restoration will be required to get your floor back to a like new condition.

Carpet coming out of the edges?
One of the main reasons why carpet starts to pull-off or come out of the edges at doorway or any area where it transitions to at hard surface floor is usually because a “Z-Bar” (see it in the illustration, it looks like a Z right between the carpet and subfloor) was not installed to secured the carpet down. http://www.themostthorough.com
CFI “Sold Out” Regional Education Day
Our Carpet & Fabricare Institute Non-Profit Trade Association had a “Sold Out” Regional Education Day” past Saturday at The Academy of Textiles & Flooring in Anaheim, CA. Members and Non-members learned about important topics related to their business success. May 7th will be our next Chapter Meeting in Santa Monica. Check out Carpet & Fabricare Institute for updates. I’m enjoying being the director a whole lot but more important is the education that I myself is getting.
We hope the education and or information shared by the speakers was useful to all attendees.
Thank You Mike West, Ross Driscoll, Rob Fairfield and CFI Board of Directors for all your support!
Haziness On Paver Flooring?
Haziness on paver flooring can be caused by several different reasons:
- Light residue from the polymeric sand used in joints.
- Water minerals build-up.
- A topical paver sealer that has gone bad, turning yellowish, grayish, peeling off in different sections.
- Simply: wasn’t cleaned properly or the right way.
Does it have a solution with out the need to be replaced? YES

Oily soils on Oleophilic carpet fibers
Oleophilic (i.e., oil attracting) carpet fibers (e.g., polyester, olefin) will absorb oily soils over time more than nylon, leaving a yellowish look on traffic areas that cannot be removed with normal cleaning. However, with proper professional pretreatment and with maximum application of the principles of cleaning, oily oils can more effectively be removed from Oleophilic carpet fibers.
Sanded grout in polished natural stone installations
Should sanded grout be used in a “polish natural stone installation”? The answer is NO. Because either during installation, daily maintenance or during professional cleaning or restoration if any of the sand in grout comes out and gets rubbed or worked on the polish surface it will scratch it.
